Setting up a company in Turkey as a foreigner
Foreign nationals can own 100% of a Turkish limited or joint-stock company. A typical process looks like this:
- Choose the company type — Limited company (minimum capital 50,000 TRY) or joint-stock company (minimum capital 250,000 TRY).
- Prepare documents — notarised Turkish translation of your passport, a potential tax ID number, company address (lease or title deed) and articles of association.
- Registration — application via MERSİS and registration with the Trade Registry; publication in the Trade Registry Gazette.
- Tax & bank — tax office inspection and tax certificate, opening of the company bank account, statutory books.
- Operations — e-signature / e-seal, e-invoicing and, if you hire staff, social security (SGK) registration.
Timelines depend on document readiness; with complete documents registration is usually completed within a few business days.
